Southeast Corridor

Thank you for your participation in the
Southeast Corridor Environmental Evaluation Process

Starting in Fall 2008, a team of planners and engineers have been working hard on the Southeast Corridor Extension Environmental Evaluation (EE) and Basic Engineering (BE). An EE is a process done by
the Regional Transportation District (RTD) to fulfill the RTD Board of Directors' commitment to perform the same level of environmental planning on all FasTracks corridors and projects. The planners and engineers have finished their work and are finalizing their responses to your feedback on:
  • The findings of the environmental study
  • The selected alignment and station locations for the extension of light rail into your community
  • How this line fits into the overall FasTracks system
Use the Southeast Corridor Interactive Environmental Evaluation (EE) Map to review the EE.  Comments will be accepted until December 18, 2009.  The Final Environmental Evaluation will be released early next year for approval by the RTD Board.

Public Involvement Process
The Environmental Evaluation (EE) was conducted in three phases.  Below are the meeting materials, presentations, newsletters and summaries associated with each phase.

Phase I: Scoping/Defining Purpose and Need  --  October 2008
Phase II: Alternative Development/Environmental Evaluation  --  March 2009
Phase III: Final Recommendation  --  November 2009

Southeast Corridor Environmental Planning Continues on Schedule

The Southeast Light Rail Line includes 19.1 miles of the popular RTD light rail system. It extends from I-25/Broadway to Lincoln Avenue in Douglas County, with an additional connection along I-225 from I-25 to Parker Road. The Southeast Corridor Extension will make the Southeast line even more successful than it is today. The current plan is to extend light rail transit service to the new RidgeGate Parkway Interchange by providing the following:
  • 2.3 miles of additional light rail
  • kiss-n-Ride station at Sky Ridge Medical Center
  • kiss-n-Ride station at Lone Tree City Center
  • New end-of line station at RidgeGate with a 2,000 space park-n-Ride facility
