Record of Decision

The North Metro Rail Line project completed its environmental planning process in April 2011 with the signing of the Record of Decision by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). This milestone marked the end of more than four years of in-depth project development, evaluation, refinement and extensive community outreach by RTD, which began in September 2006.

The rail line can now move into design and construction. The first phase (from Denver Union Station to the National Western Stock Show station) is set to begin construction in 2012 and open in 2016. The remainder of the rail line is scheduled to open in 2020 if additional funding is secured in 2012.

With the completion of the North Metro ROD, all FasTracks rail lines have completed the environmental planning phase and are all ready to be released
for construction.
