Title of Art: CONFLUX | REDOX

"Transformation and development are vital to the success of a thriving city," artist Kelton Osborn said. "The River North Art District is experiencing a surge in what is known as 'the rise of the creative class.'"

"This once forgotten industrial neighborhood is the last neighborhood in close proximity to downtown. The implementation of the [commuter] rail system into the area not only improves access to RiNo, but also creates a greater exposure of the artists to the rest of the city."

"It is important to recognize the grit of the area and keep the idea of industry alive as the neighborhood evolves and transforms," he said.

Artist Kelton OsbornThe son of a botanist and a zoologist, Kelton Osborn chose to pursue art and architecture. To him, this seemed a natural progression.

Both science and design employ a keen sense of observation, solving problems through similar processes of exploration and discovery.

Though his Master's degree is in Architecture, his career not
only includes large-scale public buildings, but lighting, furniture
design and fine art as well. He has worked with the City of Denver on several successful projects, including the award-winning Gates Tennis Center.

Kelton's work is an extension of his architecture and printmaking
background. For him, they are directly connected. The convergence of space, form and lines are prevalent in his work. Extraordinary spatial experiences are born of these interactions. Although he is comfortable working with a variety of media, he prefers the unconventional - those that surprise and invite further examination.

Kelton attended the University of New Mexico where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, with a Minor in Fine Arts/Printmaking. He earned his Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1995. He is principal of QUICKBEND design, a small local studio producing public art, furniture, buildings and industrial design.
